Shche ne vmerla Ukraina
About:
Shche ne vmerla Ukraina (Ukraine's glory has not yet perished) was first adopted as the Ukrainian anthem in 1920, and then re-adopted in 1992, after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The anthem's title (and first line) is notable for being similar to the Polish anthem, Poland has not yet perished.
Lyrics:
English:
Ukraine’s glory and freedom have not died.
Upon us, fellow compatriots, fate shall smile once more.
Our enemies will vanish, like dew in the morning sun,
And we too shall rule, brothers, in our own land.
We’ll lay down our souls and bodies for our freedom,
And we will show that we, brothers, are of the Cossack nation.
We’ll lay down our souls and bodies for our freedom,
And we will show that we, brothers, are of the Cossack nation.
